Hi, we’re Spider Grills.
We’re glad you found us. We’re a bunch of backyard barbecue nerds who think it shouldn’t take a culinary genius to smoke a brisket or make the perfect pulled pork at home. That’s why we’ve brought together some other geniuses to bring innovation and technology to your backyard, taking the guesswork out of barbecue. If you can push a button, turn a knob, and work a smartphone, you can smoke a brisket (or anything else, for that matter). Don’t believe us? Read on.
The Kettle Grill: American Classic
Recognize that grill? Of course you do, you weren’t born under a rock. That’s a classic Weber Kettle Grill, the best-selling grill in America. There’s a pretty good chance if you’ve made it this far, you’ve got one of these sitting in your backyard or garage waiting for the occasional burger or hotdog.
We know. We were you.
Then, one day while we chowed down on a less-than-satisfying burger after trying to light our “match-light” charcoal for the last hour we thought…why can’t this be better?
The answer: it can. We set out to prove it.
We put down our pre-frozen burger patties and set our sights on something bigger. Visions of perfectly smoked brisket, massive dino-ribs, and juicy pulled pork kept us up at night. We quickly realized that if we were going to become the ultimate barbecue pitmaster, we were going to have to invest. Not just money (have you priced smokers lately?) but also time, energy, and brain power. Now, I’m not saying we’re lazy, but we didn’t feel like we should have to get a PhD. to enjoy good barbecue.
Then it hit us.
Like, we literally tripped over it getting something out of the garage. That old, dusty Weber Kettle our dad have given us when we went off to college. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it after all these years, and it was at least 50% of what every other fancy smoker on the market was. Right then and there, we got to work on the other 50%.
The Spider-22
What if, we thought, we could transform this old dusty kettle into a high-tech, brisket-smoking machine? We called those geniuses I mentioned earlier and they said, “Huh, yeah, we could do that,” and the Spider-22 was born.
These geniuses took the tech that turns a hunk of hollow metal into a barbecue spaceship and molded it to fit our dad’s clunky old kettle like a sexy, mechanical glove. It was like putting lipstick on a pig, but instead of kissing it, we now had the option to chop it up, slap it between two buns, and smother it with sauce.
That was five years ago, and ever since we’ve been turning dusty old Weber Kettles into high-tech pellet smokers and keeping more money in your wallet (just so you can spend it on more meat if we’re honest).
The Venom
One day in 2020, after buying our third brisket of the week with that stimulus check, we happened to pass by some frozen hamburger patties and were immediately transported back to a simpler time. It was a time when all we wanted was for our “match-light” charcoal to fire up with one match instead of a whole box. Struck with nostalgia, we called up our geniuses and, through a mouthful of brisket, proposed an idea.
“You know how I can, like, flush my toilet with an app on my phone from the office? Yeah, what if I could have that kind of power over my charcoal grill?”
“Huh, yeah, we could do that,” they said.
A year later and we were looking at the sexiest thing to happen to a Weber Kettle since the Spider-22.
The Venom was ALIVE!
With the press of a few buttons and access right from our phone, we could start, set, and control a kettle full of charcoal as easily as turning on our oven (or flushing our toilet). We sat there in shock, as we had once again forever changed the possibilities of this beat-up old kettle grill that had been sitting in our garage, full of untapped potential. The days of sad frozen burgers were gone, the age of perfectly cooked, artisan beef patties was upon us.
Not only could we put the perfect char lines on a juicy, pink burger patty, but we could reverse sear steaks, and we could smoke ribs low-and-slow. Heck, we could do whatever we wanted because we no longer had to guess what the hell our charcoal was up to or what was happening inside our meat.
The Venom changed charcoal forever.

So the Weber kettle is the pig? “dad’s clunky old kettle like a sexy, mechanical glove. It was like putting lipstick on a pig.” Not sure insulting the product your product is made for is your best marketing strategy? Just sayin….
